No  There  Weren’t Any   Buzzer  Beaters   Here …………………

Last  night   in  one  of  the   more  inglorious  games   played   on   the  court   of   a  college  basketball   venue.   The   game   between   Penn  State  and   number  sixteenth   ranked Illinois   left   a  great   deal    to be desired.   Between    the   two    teams   they    managed   to  show   their   ineptitude    on  both   ends   of  the   court.

What   was   even    more   startling     that   had   one   not   looked     clearly   at    the   result . You’d   have   thought  that  it  was   a  game   either   being  played    by    two    high   school   teams   or   perhaps   that   of   females   at  the college    level.   The  two   teams   between  them  could  only  muster   up    71   points  in total.    That  if  anything    gives    you  a  clear   indication  as  to    how   bad  this  must’ve   been.

Now  don’t  get me   wrong   it’s   not   every   college   men’s   game   that’ll    produce a  high   scoring   game.  And   at  the   same  time   one  would   expect   some    sort  of   proficiency    both     teams   when   it  comes  to  showing    some   commitment   to    playing   hard.   Whatever  took   place   last   night   between  the  two    teams   was    short    on  skills   and    even   shorter  on   the   entertainment   factor.    As   to  what  this   says  about   Illinois’   basketball   program  .  I’ll   leave    that   up   to   you    to   decide.

The  box  score   if  anything    shows   us   how    dire   things   must’ve   been  last   night  as  both   teams  tried   to  muster   up   some   offensive    prowess.   It   can  only  be  explained   by   the  mere   fact  that   neither   team   had    heart  to   play.   Or    that    they   were   both    completely    out  of  sorts    on  the   court.    It   was   a  lackluster    performance   by   both    teams.   And    even   if   Penn  State    did   prevail   in  the end    winning   38-33.   Certainly   they   can’t have    felt   comfortable   with   that   sort   of  display  at  the  end  of  the  day,  win   or   no  win.
